12 / 02 / 07 : Swedish Rally
Group N: Hänninen, the victory... is gone
WRC epic: Gardemeister sixth
Juho Hänninen, the RRE team pilot, had a perfect race during the Sweding rally taking place this weekend. Second on the first day, ahead the next day, he kept on leading the production category, with his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, until the end of the rally, where he was declared winner on Sunday evening...before being disqualified for a noncompliant car. An additional fuel pump is taking away the young Finnish pilot’s second victory in world championship (first victory in the 2006 Sardaigne).
For his part, Toni Gardemeister was defending the Japanese colours in WRC, with a semi official Lancer WRC05. He sprung a major surprise by coming out on top in the inaugural super specials, and then had a solid race, by snatching away a few second positions in specials. A race that would have giving him the opportunity to aim for the third final position, without the transmission troubles he had to deal with. Sixth on the first day, but eighth on the second day, he finally made his way back up to the sixth position on the next day. A wonderful result, calling out for more!

30 / 11 / 06: Juho Hänninen, second in New Zealand.
Juho Hänninen, the young pilot from the RRE team of Lasse Lampi, realized a wonderful rally in New Zealand with his Mitsubishi, dominating the Group N during most of the race, before being slowed down by a turbo problem, which relegated him at the second place of his category by three seconds only. Ninth at the scratch for a first participation to this very hard rally, a remarkable performance!

13 / 11 / 06 : Mitsubishi at the UAE Desert Challenge
After spending 6 long months without running, Mitsubishi’s team found the way back to competition at the UAE Desert Challenge, in Dubai. This clover shaped challenge around Dubai is imposing itself like the ultimate general practice before the Dakar for the teams, even though the profile of this race is less exigent. Moreover, it’s the last part of the world championship, which adds to the challenge.
This year again, Mitsubishi mobilized almost its entire troops, with three cars. Alphand / Picard and Masuoka / Maimon ran with the MPR12, winner at last year’s Dakar, while Peterhansel / Cottret were trying out for the first time in a race the new MPR 13.
Nani Roma was the only one missing, and should carry on with the development of the new Pajero, on site, at the end of the race...
If their opponents showed they could be a threat (especially the duet Sainz / Perrin) in the next Dakar, the Mitsubishi team have however had a solid race, showing once again their perfect mastery of rally raid. Luc Alphand, very fast, has finished second of the prelude, then second at the first stage, before winning the next one, to finally impose himself very clearly. For his part, Peterhansel showed the potential of the new Pajero by winning a stage and finishing second at the general.
Masuoka, despite some navigation troubles, then a mechanic break, is classifying himself seventh in the rally.
The duet Alphand / Peterhansel allowed Mitsubishi to win the championship in the construction world, and also allowed him to confirm its favourite statute for the Rally Dakar 2007. However, Mitsubishi knows competition is in constant progression. Therefore, Dominique Serieys expects a Dakar harder than ever. Tension is already at his highest in Dubai just one month before the start in Lisbon! |

03 / 11 / 06: Calm, Sola and Roma performing in Spain
Nani Roma has a very good knowledge of BOS’ dampers, he’s actually using them in rally raid through the Mitsubishi factory team... and he’s also importing them in Spain. As Nani is getting an Evo IX prepared for himself by Calm to run in rally, he has naturally invited him to tryout BOS’ dampers developed for this car... and the results are showing positive!
Calm has tried out BOS’ dampers on his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and after a successful tryout, finally adopted them.
Other than Nani, the pilots Calm, Dani Sola, Josep Membrado and Alex Villanueva are from now on running with BOS.
Sola is the new national tarmac champion, with a C2 S 1600, equipped with BOS, and Membrado is the Catalan champion with a Clio S 1600, also equipped with BOS!
Nani surpassed himself first with the Mitsubishi during the Figueras’ rally he was competing in, in preparation of the national gravel championship, were he imposed himself in Group N (finishing third at the scratch) in front of another famous ex-biker, Alex Criville.
Membrado then followed in his steps, in Costa Brava, where he won the Group N and classified himself third at the scratch, this time on the Tarmac, while Sola imposed himself with the C2.
Finally, during the Spanish gravel championship, Sola wins both days of the Ecira Palma del Rio rally, in front of Villanueva (Evo VIII). Roma, fourth on Saturday, is imposing himself in group N, but abandoned the next day.

30 / 09 / 06: Rallycross: BOS’ final in D4 !
The French rallycross championship final has shown the victories of BOS’ pilots in D4: Bertrand Divaret, winner of the title, and Olivier Bossard, who managed to win his last race with his Saxo Kit Car Bos Engineering.
The title was far to be won in D4 before this final in Essay, following a season showing Divaret’s domination, then Jan’s return, and finally, during the last races, a messy fight. Through all this, Olivier Bossard showed his speed without managing to lead because of a few misadventures. Essay appeared to be the last challenge: title for Divaret and Jan, and ultimate achievement chance for Bossard.
As a matter of fact, the stopwatches were going to show Olivier Bossard’s superiority, in front of Dréan. Both of them then shared the qualification stages, while the competitors, probably under pressure, stayed a little bit behind. However, Divaret clearly showed he was in favourite position for victory, as Jan had to go through the final to classify himself.
Dréan started the final A from pole position in front of Bossard, but Bossard made his move to the lead first, ending up leading the race. Behind him, -surprise! - Thierry Jan comes out of the first corner at the second position right after coming out of the third line!
Jan is trying to fight his way up to Olivier Bossard, but the official Bos-Engineering’s Saxo pilot won’t give this opportunity away. And Divaret has to settle for the fifth position far away from the title...
Luck seemed quite close though, as Dréan, not Jan, had an electric problem in one of the last corners of the last round. With Dréan out of the race, Bertrand gains a step forward... and the Title of French Champion! Olivier Bossard drove away in front to offer a perfect race and ends up with a victory promised since the very beginning of the season.
In the end, it has been a successful weekend for Bos-Engineering, with Divaret’s title, and the owner’s victory!
In the other categories:
Patrick Maillard, second in D2, finishes French vice champion.
In D1, Marc Laboulle is imposing himself and finishes second of the championship, only one to resist surrounded by the five cars equipped with Bos all in the six finalists of the classifications!

06 / 06 / 06 : Henri Magne loses his life in Marocco
Meanwhile Stephane Peterhansel won the Marocco Rally's last stage, and recovered first place overall, the rally was plunged into mourning by Henri Magne's tragical accident that caused his death.
Nani Roma and Henri crashed in the last stage, and despite Nani wasn't hurt, Henri was declared dead by the medical staff a few minutes later.
Even though Peterhansel won the stage and was suposed to take first the place overall, Mitsubishi decided to withdraw all the cars from the rally.
Henri was known by all the rally raid people for his kindness and his great professionalism. We met him severall times during our collaboration with MMSP, and could appreciate him as a very good personn. All the Bos staff assures MMSP, and especially Nani, as well as henri's familly and frineds of its deepest sympathy. |
22 / 05 / 06 : Sardinia rally : first success for Bos
BOS dampers made their first race in WRC and Group N this week end. Mitsubishi supplied a WRC 05 official car equiped on Bos dampers to Jussi Valimaki, and the team RRE, managed by Lasse Lampi, run with Juho Hanninen on Evo 9 with the new Bos CR 40.
WRC : Valimaki 5th
The official Mitsubishi team made his Motorsport come back this week end with a WRC 05 driven by Jussi Valimaki, who run for his first time in Sardinia.
Very constant in the Top 10 during the rally, the young Finish boy made a very good race and finished his performance at the 5th place. A famous result for the first race of BOS dampers, more over with a 2005 car, still competitive!
Group N : victory of Hanninen
Even if Juho Hanninen wins lots of races in Group N this season, it was the first time he run this year on Bos at the Sardinia rally. The pilot of the team RRE get the benefit of the knowledge and the experience of his manager Lasse Lampi, who is in fact the official Mitsubishi pilot in charge of damper setting development in WRC & GpN.
WRC car is running with factory dampers but the Gp N with dampers coming from CR40 range for Lancer Evo (see picture 1 / see picture 2) It seems that the Bos dampers run good, Hanninen made a perfect rally, finishing 14th scratch and winning the Group N ! |
15 / 03 / 06: Alphand / Picard ahead of the Por las Pampasl Rally.
The two Alphand and Roma’s official Mitsubishi are dominating the Patagonian rally in front of weak competitors. Since the departure the two pilots are having a beautiful fight, far in front of the rest of the crew. Two days from the arrival, Alphand / Picard have chosen a significant option on victory, following a clutch problem on Roma and Magne’s car. Yesterday these two thought victory was theirs, after taking advantage of the Dakar’s winner puncture. It proves nothing is won before crossing the arrival line. |
